Character analysis/relevance to other works

2

Hello,

Cole Phelps:
Phelps seems to be the ideal policeman, I think at one point he exclaims that he doesn’t drink and dislikes police officers who do.
He’s clean, tidy, intelligent, well dressed and is a likable character. He appears to have flashbacks every now and then which dictate the character’s back-story (most of which are glimpses of how he did up to becoming a police officer) and offer a clever insight into his life.

Phelps’ first traffic partner:
Stefan Bekowsky is the cockier of the two, barely helps (unless asked) and always has a smart remark to make. Although this does make the partnership more believable. They do seem to work well together and the dialogue between the two makes for interesting listening.

Their relationship reminds me of the one between Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Specifically given the level of intelligence involved and the similarities between their crime-solving.

TBC.

I like you found that the relationship reminds you of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ I defiantly see where your coming from. I think the partners can act as the silent author/narrator, giving guidance of where to go and what to do in subtle ways. What I found annoying about the game is that your partner always tells you what to do, and even sometimes its the obvious thing, although this does work in giving your information especially back story.

I agree with your description of Phelps’s character and how traditional he is in the sense of dressing tidy and not drinking threfore touching on his dedication to the job and the law.
